Did you know about this one?
It all depends on how you are admitted in the hospital,under observation of as in in patient, as to whether or not medicare pays or not.I had no idea.

Medicare will either deny payment to the hospital for an “inappropriate” inpatient admission (determined by diagnosis) that will require rehab, or deny rehab services if the hospital assigns “outpatient” status. Note Medicare refused to be interviewed for the NBC story. Either way, at one end or the other, the patient is stuck with a fat health care tab.
