I was in Russia in 1991 and 1993 and I saw the same thing.
As we would agree, socialists never learn anything. They just keep on repeating the same mistakes.
An ideology that bases its entire existence on lies needs to be destroyed, It’s believers institutionalized and it’s champions publicly flogged.
Someone who spent time in East Germany during that period said about the same thing. Individual initiative was virtually non-existent. Unfortunately, our Political class seeks to cultivate this because it will keep them in power. They think there will always be innovators and companies like Apple & Starbucks regardless of what happens to the culture. They are wrong.
