Back in the ‘Old Navy’ we had a saying:
“Only people that whistle aboard ship are Boatswains Mates and CS’ers”.
Guess if you even were to think that today you would get thrown out....
Kind of like a kid drawing the picture of a gun in grade school.
“Damn a man who whistles!”
Funny...I remember it too, and never gave it much thought.
Only in the last few years did I find out it was an ancient maritime superstition...whistling on board a sailing vessel was thought to encourage high winds and bad weather...
