These glorified golf carts still are not practical for more than relatively short commuter runs, and the battery technology that would make them really competitive is still years away.
It is more likely that fuel-cell technology will be a more viable means to eventually eliminate dependence on internal combustion engines, but I am still holding out for the return of steam generation of power in a very compact form, fueled by compressed natural gas or propane.
Abner Doble had this worked out 90 years ago.
I would still like to hear how these cars did in the Polar Vortex areas...
Someday the batteries might get there , but not yet..
Maybe a hybrid steam/gasolene.
Internal combustion to start off, then steam.
Note: Veeblefeltzer sales double from last year.
Manufactures predict sales to triple next year
with 3 sold.
I had the opportunity to ride in a friend’s Tesla last week, and I have to say it is a very impressive car. For commuting, he is able to go four days between charges. It’s an expensive car, but commuting in a temperate clime is the perfect use case for it.
I am 100% opposed to any government subsidies, however. Just because the tech is cool doesn’t mean that the taxpayers need to pay for it.
