Ted Cruz cites ‘Kill Bill’ against Harvey Weinstein

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is taking aim at movie producer Harvey Weinstein, calling the studio head a hypocrite for slamming the NRA, but using violence in his own films.

Citing Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 film “Kill Bill” — which Weinstein produced — the Texas senator said the sword fight at the end of the movie is “one of the most epically violent scenes.”

“But you don’t see people wanting to ban knives,” Cruz said Thursday on Fox News’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”

Cruz’s comments follow news that Weinstein — who co-heads The Weinstein Company production house with his brother — wants to target the NRA in a new film.

“I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this issue head on, and they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them,” Weinstein told Howard Stern on the latter’s radio show Wednesday, according to audio from Mediaite.

Cruz slammed Weinstein for living in “a fancy neighborhood with all sorts of police protection.”

“He says he doesn’t own a gun, but I bet you there’s a good odd that he has armed security around him,” Cruz said.

Cruz called Weinstein’s movies “left-wing propaganda,” and said “Hollywood liberal elites, they have their view of things.”

“We have a right to protect ourselves. It’s protected in the Constitution. Even if liberal Hollywood types want to take it away, it isn’t going anywhere,” Cruz said.

Cruz added that he sees the similarities between Washington and the West Coast.

“It’s the same pattern we see in Washington. It’s a double standard. It’s one rule for thee and one rule for me. So liberals love to live by special rules,” he said.

... a disgusting, depraved Hell movie, with not one redeeming character, nor character trait. It has no theme. The violence is needles, gratuitous and over the top.

Celebrating psychopathy.

Ugh!

It’s true, it celebrates psychopathy.

I’d say, as a literature teacher, that’s the central theme.

How can anyone like ‘Reservoir Dogs’?
