Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is taking aim at movie producer Harvey Weinstein, calling the studio head a hypocrite for slamming the NRA, but using violence in his own films.
Citing Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 film “Kill Bill” — which Weinstein produced — the Texas senator said the sword fight at the end of the movie is “one of the most epically violent scenes.”
“But you don’t see people wanting to ban knives,” Cruz said Thursday on Fox News’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”
Cruz’s comments follow news that Weinstein — who co-heads The Weinstein Company production house with his brother — wants to target the NRA in a new film.

“I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this issue head on, and they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them,” Weinstein told Howard Stern on the latter’s radio show Wednesday, according to audio from Mediaite.
Cruz slammed Weinstein for living in “a fancy neighborhood with all sorts of police protection.”
“He says he doesn’t own a gun, but I bet you there’s a good odd that he has armed security around him,” Cruz said.
Cruz called Weinstein’s movies “left-wing propaganda,” and said “Hollywood liberal elites, they have their view of things.”
“We have a right to protect ourselves. It’s protected in the Constitution. Even if liberal Hollywood types want to take it away, it isn’t going anywhere,” Cruz said.
Cruz added that he sees the similarities between Washington and the West Coast.
“It’s the same pattern we see in Washington. It’s a double standard. It’s one rule for thee and one rule for me. So liberals love to live by special rules,” he said.

Ted Cruz Ping!
If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
Ted Cruz bump!
:D
This is the wrong hill to die on. Kill Bill was a spoof. An homage film. The violence was purposely exaggerated for effect.
Perfect! Sen. Cruz knows that Alinsky’s tools work both ways, and what better way to show the hypocrisy of Hollywood than to use their own creations against them.
...and she used a sword, not a gun all the time!
So what?
The analogy was spot-on. Even if the film was a spoof, the cited scene with swordplay was ultra-violent - yet no one watching it would be so stupid as to call for "knife control."
Regards,
He also was the executive producer of: Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Inglourious Basterds, and Grindhouse. There’s plenty of gun violence in each of those movies. He has no problem profiting off of gun violence, yet wants to make a propaganda movie about the NRA. Hypocrisy be thy name.
please add my name to your ping list.
The Kill Bill movies were total crap!
We need 534 more just like Ted Cruz.
Ban knives!!
The bigger point here is that wise guy Weinstein - and all of the leftist anti-gun hypocrites - protect themselves with armed security, yet they want to take away our right to protect ourselves.
Agree totally. Tarantino's "ninja/samauri" phase was the low point of his career. The only good part of Kill Bill was the Japaneese girl band singing the "whoo-whoo" song.
I agree. Who cares if Weinstein is a hypocrite. It’s more important to know that he’s a depraved idiot. His opinion on the constitution should be ignored.
I saw the claim of hypocrisy on FoxnFriends this morning, I think it was. I agree with that, but there’s a bit of me that says it’s a wrong-headed argument.
Because Weinstein uses violence then he shouldn’t gripe about gun-owners who also use violence.
That’s not true. Gun-owners do not glorify violence, by and large. They are trained, thoughtful, and have an excellent record in only using their weapons when protecting life.
Comparing ourselves to gratuitous violence is not solid ground to stand on.
The argument should be: we do not advocate violence, but this guy advocates gratuitous violence.
IMHO that actually makes it better as an example.
It’s not just that Harv is presenting gratuitous violence, he’s doing so as a joke. Conclusion: Harv thinks gratuitous violence is a joking matter.
Will you add me to your Cruz ping list, please?
As of this morning when I last check my voice mail, Harvey had not called asking for my opinion so, I don’t need his either.
