Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) triggered controversy with a fiery floor speech in the Senate on Tuesday night, during which she declared that "we cannot let Israel determine when and where the United States goes to war."
Breitbart reports that the speech was made during a debate on a bill that would impose new sanctions on Iran if it fails to comply with the nuclear deal that was reached with it in November.
The bill includes a provision offering support to Israel in the event of an Israeli pre-emptive strike on Iran.
Feinstein chairs the Select Committee on Intelligence and is considered pro-Israel, but her remarks, which echo those of anti-Israel critics, have provoked outrage, noted Breitbart.
In her speech, Feinstein said that "a vote for this legislation will cause negotiations to collapse," arguing that the six-month deal reached in Geneva and finalized on Sunday represented "the best opportunity in more than 30 years to make a major change in Iranian behavior."

Take it all back. Use it to fund buying back crappy old cars, or obamacare, or the defense budget, or something. I don’t want it.
A nuclear bomb weighs about a ton, I’ve heard. You need a plane capable of going all the way from Israel to Iran carrying that heavy load and also the defensive capacity to make it to a target through hostile air space. I’m not an expert in military matters. But it’s no easy feat, I’m sure.
A preemptive conventional strike would at least not require as strong an engine as a nuclear bomb, but still the logistics of getting F16s there and back again after dropping their respective conventional loads sounds prohibitive without a carrier or a land base nearby.
The Iranians are working on long-range missiles, besides. They very much want to be an existential threat to everybody.
As for North Korea, don’t know much about it. I would think China would just plain swat them upside the head and tell them to shut up and stop picking on their neighbors.
Your hatred of America is disturbing but it does help explain Gates' use of the word "ungrateful".
How about you put your wallet where your mouth is and pay back our financial support .... all 65 years of it.
What hatred? I was raised American. I love America, even though I moved to Israael. I just don’t want to use your money. I just offered to return it, so you can use it to fund the national debt. We don’t need it, and for my part I don’t want it. If I were PM, one of the first things I would do would be to start paying back US financial support, all 65 years of it.
Good plan. Don't forget to include the secured loans.
Be well.
