Continue your conversation with your partner that you had while the house lights were up and see if the entire audience doesn't glare at you. Go on, try talking at normal voice during the previews and see if others don't think you are ruining their movie experience.

So... the cop making an issue out of someone 'texting' was actually the cause of the disruption for all the moviegoers, and not the texting.

As I said before, If I was sitting in a theater texting, you would have to stand up and look over my shoulders to even notice. You wouldn't 'hear' anything nor would you notice the light from the screen.

We’ll have to watch closely. If the shooter walks, we’ll know that an old man requesting us to stop texting is a threat to our very lives, and we can justifiably shoot him.

Exactly. This busy body guffer got his panties in a wad about someone pressing some buttons on a phone?

I suspect the retired cop was outraged that a mere peon didn't "respect my authority".

The last time I went to a movie theater was 2004, (Team America). I doubt if I'll ever go to another theater.

How do you know the people behind you aren't distracted by the glow of your smart phone screen? It reflects off of eyeglasses and other shiny objects, including jewelry in a darkened theater.

I attended a live performance when an actor suddenly stopped the show, waiting silently and patiently until the self-absorbed Texterrific audience member in the third row finally looked up. The actor said, "Thank you," and continued his lines.

At a concert, paid $200 for a pair of tickets, with unfortunate seats behind three women taking photos and texting on facebook and twitter throughout the first set. I told them, "I understand you are addicts, but we did not pay $200 for the pleasure of viewing your smart phone screens." Boy howdy, did I get dirty looks. Two of the women put their phones away. The third was so insanely addicted to social media, she couldn't stop. It is an illness.
