Problem we are going to have in Texas will be the same problem Conservatives had in other elections.
Cornyn is defeated, runs as an independent or other in the general, the rat and conservative split the vote and Cornyn gets back in, even more pissed off at the conservatives.
Only thing we can hope for is Cornyn losing and offering his support to the conservative. But I doubt that will happen.
As the recent election in Virginia demonstrated, even if the GOP-e doesn’t back an independent run by their defeated candidate (e.g. Charlie Crist) it will actively support the Democrat against the conservative Republican nominee. There have been a couple of disastrous Tea Party backed nominees in the last two elections but most of those nominees were decent people who were kneecapped by the sore loser GOP-e.
No! As a FReeper learned me yesterday, we have a Sore Loser statute in TX that prevents a candidate from switching parties after being defeated in the primary.
Hawkeyefan? I forget the freeper’s name...
People in TX like Cornball, but no one knows why.
Won't happen. Texas has a "sore loser" law: lose in the primary, you can't enter the general as an independent.
