"If you have something proving the states can lawfully secede, I would love to see it. I will move to the first state that secedes in a heartbeat."

I need to read up on the history on the nation states of Italy. If US states could turn their backs on federal rule, secede and declare independence, would any states or conglomerate of states hold up against the federal juggernaut?
Texas could probably secede by itself but would be stronger as a coalition of states like with a southern border states coalition since border states have unique issues of border problems.
Would something like that even work? States throwing off tyranny and going non-federal?
Or, after this silent coup, would the federal "pen and phone" crush any resistance? I feel like the underground/resistance in the Star Wars movies....

No. For the most part States, counties, and munipalities all borrow. They float their bonds in the bond market that is controlled by Wall Street. They are in debt up to their eyeballs to Wall Street - which manages all the pensions and 401k accounts of ALL Americans, provides mortgages for them, roads, schools, food stores, etc. It's a big business empire that can only be torn apart if those at its apex decide they want it torn apart. They'd have to decide how to tear it apart, i.e., who to extend credit to and how much. Does Ft. Hood get food trucks to supply it with food, does NJ get money to pay its pensions, etc.
Banking has such a hold over the government that Hank Paulson, an ex-CEO of Goldman Sachs, could be appointed Secretary of the Treasury, and walk in to the President's office and tell him he needs a check for $700 billion dollars to bail out the banking system, and just about that quickly the President agrees.

If there is a way, we should do it.
