Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates' scathing assessment of President Obama's handling of the Afghanistan war pales in comparison to what he thinks about Congress. In Gates' memoir, "Duty," which hit the bookstores on Tuesday, the former Pentagon boss puts his poison pen to the work of skewering what he calls an "incompetent" and "egotistical" institution.

BTW, what’s up with Gates and the neck brace? Did he meet with some Chicago justice?
I agree with him that Reid asking the Dept of Defense to fund Irritable Bowel Syndrome is outrageous.
But for all the funding questions, what does he expect Congress to do?
If he didn’t want to be bugged so much, then he needed to take a more proactive approach. He should have a staffer notifying congressmen about the status of funding of projects in their districts. And if they aren’t funded, then they should be explaining why.

He should have called Cheney for some diplomacy tips re dealing with Congress.
