Europe’s young people lack the skills for work despite record levels of unemployment, according to a report by the US-based consultancy giant McKinsey.

In its study, “Education to Employment,” published on Monday (13 January), McKinsey said one in three firms feel that a lack of skills among Europe’s youth posed major business problems, in the form of cost, quality, or time.

Meanwhile, 27 percent reported that they had left a vacancy unfilled over the past 12 months because they could not find anyone with the right skills. …

Why should they now that the adults in Europe have made sitting on your ass, watching TV and living off the dole a viable career choice and also tax the s___t out of anyone who makes money.

Sounds like our politicians to use this excuse as a reason to bring in more cheap labor in the form of immigrants.

Wonder if this is just “code” to not hire White folks?

I doubt Third Worlders would be better trained. A country where many citizens still pee and poop in their drinking water does not have many educated people

Of course, many businesses want taxpayers to pay for training...maybe its time again for businesses to train their own

That's all it is.

I work with European Engineers all the time. Multi-Lingual, hyper trained, very competent.

It's a BS report, designed to legitimize mass squat labor importation. Mostly to write crapware for internet marketing operations, or do grunt testing.

Thanks for info

Europe has many tech educated folks...and usually done thru tech schools and not colleges. In Europe you go to college or university to be an educator...not high tech or industry

Because there is no such thing as on-the-job-training. Never has been. That’s why we need Indians and Mexicans. (Or Poles and Turks and Nigerians.) They’re born knowing how.

"Europe’s young people lack the skills for work despite record levels of unemployment"

Did they think record levels of unemployment would improve work skills? You develop skills by working.

I agree as far as the conclusion in the article. The German apprenticeship programs (in conjunction, of course, with their work ethic) yields PLENTY of skilled young Germans who are very productive in the economy.

That was the beginning of the big drain swirl IMO. When business began to buy the propaganda coming from the education establishment that perfect cookie-cutter employees would pop out of the system fully prepared, without the employer spending a dime of their own money to train them.

I understand these job boards like Monster and Career Builder are overrun with resumes from young French engineers, desperate to go anyplace else.
