There is no question but that New York’s new mayor, Bill De Blasio, owes his landslide victory in the November election to the Occupy Movement.

This article had to be written. It is standard procedure to inoculate the left from their failures by claiming that they were not lefty enough. Recent examples include the claim that the stimulus was not large enough, that the Obamacare is not single payer, hence the problems, and solar subsidies are too small.

In 2-3 years when New York returns to it's former crap-hole status before Giuliani, they will be able to claim it is because Blasio wasn't a true progressive. Just standard procedure, nothing to see here.

Anyone who uses the phrase “national conversation” (an ambiguity on the same scale as “global warming”) is only worth listening to in order to get a reading on where the loonie tune Left is at this particular moment.

I would also postulate that the argument that an elected official is not “left enough” made by a radical is simply a hedge against the coming failure of that official to improve the general condition of the citizenry.
