The real question is whether I care about Christy or not. I’d pretty much rejected him as a conservative with his pro-gay and anti-gun policies. That was way back at the beginning of the last primary season when his name was floated a couple of times. Christy is an establishment, east coast, liberal republican.

Christy is quasi pro-life; I think he subscribes to the standard “rape, incest, life of mother (rilom)” exceptions. (I might understand “violent rape” and “immediate danger threatening the death of the mother”, but in rilom pro-life, rape is a squishy term, 30 year old cousins getting incestuously pregnant doesn’t strike me as a crisis, and “life” of mother is way too squishy.) I personally don’t believe in any abortion, but believe instead in adoption. (I have no problem with honest treatment to save the life of mother or child that might result in serious danger to either, for example, cancer treatment or surgery after a car wreck.)

So, there is little redeeming about Christy. He has admitted his staff did some retribution that blew up on them, and he has apologized for that happening under his watch. I’m ok with that.

If, however, this ends his hopes of the presidency, I’ll shed no tears. I would have opposed him anyway.

So can Chuck give us the time-frame for when the vetting process will start for Kid Kenya?
