Only a very limited number of fish from the great lakes can be sold but toxin levels are pretty debatable at best.

I know people who have eaten fish from the great lakes a couple times per week for decades with no ill effects for them, their offspring, or grandchildren.

The PCB contamination some prior reply noted is a “red herring” ,, it’s heavy and settles deep into the muck ... it doesn’t stay suspended in the water ... the EPA is making GE “clean” up PCB’s in the Hudson ,, trouble is there was none in the water ,, they’re having to dredge muck to find it and it’s now getting back into the water that way ... sometimes it’s best to leave things alone.
