The axe is falling at Macy's.
The department store operator said Wednesday that it was laying off 2,500 workers and closing five stores. The company is also consolidating its regional management and restructuring its retail and merchandise planning staff.
"[W]e have identified some specific areas where we can improve our efficiency without compromising our effectiveness in serving the evolving needs of our customers," Macy's CEO Terry Lundgren said in a statement.

Just remember... if it becomes unbearable up there... you are always welcome here... just tell those that come that we will not tolerate progressives... our culture is our culture... embrace it or don’t come. Progressives are like cancer... if you let them take root... they kill the host. One only has to look at California or New York to see the truth of what I say... or Florida to see the cancerous infection as it rages.
Where do you recommend? I am considering Gulf Shores Alabama. I am Catholic, is there a Catholic community in Mississippi? What are the good beach towns?
Gulf Shores is very nice... tourist related as are many in the Pan Handle of Florida. We have large Catholic communities on the Mississippi Coast. Most people are moving to rural areas just north of the beaches and driving 20 minutes or so into town. That way, you get the best of both worlds.
