Woman Punched in Los Gatos May Be Related to "Knockout Game"
NBC Bay Area ^ | Wednesday, Jan 8, 2014

Police are investigating whether an incident involving a man punching a woman in the face for no apparent reason is related to the "Knockout Game."

Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department said just after 4:30 p.m. Monday officers responded to a call of an assault and battery in the 14000 block of Blossom Hill Road. Witnesses told police a man confronted a woman in a strip mall parking lot and struck her in the face with a single closed fist.

The victim fell to the ground and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Manny Singh, who owns the nearby Los Gatos Pizza, said he saw the victim after the incident.

"She was crying. She was crying really bad," he said. "She said she didn't do anything wrong. I don't know what happened to her."

The suspect ran away after the incident and before officers arrived on scene, police said.

Some people at a dance studio located near where the crime occurred are concerned that the attack is connected to a national phenomenon called the "Knockout Game."

The game involves people attempting to knock out unsuspecting victims with a single sucker punch for amusement purposes, according to police. Investigators, however, said they do not have enough evidence to connect the crime to the game.

"There is no specific indication that it is part of the Knockout Game, but again we're not ruling out any of those motives," Sgt. Clinton Tada said.

The suspect is described as an African American adult in his early- to mid-20s, 5 foot 9 inches to 6 feet tall, slender build and short, brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a white baseball cap backwards.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department at 408-354-8600.

It’s another name for the now, as in “I wonder who’s kissing her now”. (Hat tip to the late H. Allen Smith.)

If he’s still in Los Gatos he should be easy to find.

Well there sure are a lot of video cams almost everywhere nowadays. I can’t say I like this. But yes the police do use them in chasing down criminals

Los Gatos is an upscale neighborhood

I don't know if it's still there or not, but 30 years ago there was a Ferrari dealership next door to Los Gatos High School.

Uhh...I used to live in Los Gatos and while it is an upscale neighborhood, there are many “AAs” living in Northern CA. Ever been to Richmond, Oakland, Vallejo, Marin City for instance?

When did you live there? It was’t always an upscale neighborhood.

I lived in Northern CA from 1968 to 2003. I lived in Los Gatos 1995-2002. Loved that town.

Having lived there and am now on the east coast, it doesn’t compare...
Did you see my qualifying follow on comment?
Take the total area of No CA, look at the number of AAs living there and it’s way less than anywhere on the east coast or parts of midwest...
And *sigh* YES I’ve been to those areas...still doesn’t compare...
And tell me you could count on one finger how many times you saw an AA in Los Gatos while there...

I stand corrected, this was LG. I was thinking it was more towards the Mall. I live around Camden & 85.
And btw,,, my neighbor ‘s (he is pissed) house was robbed last Monday,, there is a rash of robberies going on around the Cambrian/Willow Glen area from what I hear also.
A Security Cam system is next on the agenda for mi casa...

I have an old friend who lives in Willow Glen. Will have them keep a look out. The next door neighbor is a retired SJ cop...making more money in retirement than when active on the force...love those unions!
