As mentioned up thread, if Chicago and/or Illinois were countries they’d lead the list, LOL.
They understate the problem. The corruption in the United States is so systemic and pervasive, it is difficult to identify the quid pro quo.
Because our system is more sophisticated than the simple-minded crooks on the list, doesn’t make our crony-capitalism any less heinous.
True, it's because the evaluators are biased, and the evaluation is worthless.
As an example this: Pedophile Made a Fortune Filing Disability Lawsuits in California ....Is absolute corruption with cooperation of law enforcement and the courts, but it is scored as non corrupt governmental activities (by leftist evaluators).
As far as I am concerned, this country is number one when it comes to urban government throughout its 50 states, and second only to Mideast Muslim countries as an overall whole when considering the Federal Government.
Rank Country Score 9 Canada 81 19 United States 73
We'll switch places -- if the price is right.
They must not have factored in the government to have ranked the US so high.
Communist. Almost the same.
Between them and Louisiana/New Orleans lies the reason why the US is behind Japan and Hong Kong.
OK. District of Columbistan, Chicagostan, New Orlistan and Houstan brought the US down four pegs on the list.
Czech Republic, 57/177.
Woo Hoo!! Oh, wait.....
The joke among Czechs is that the Czech Republic is indeed the most corrupt country in the world, but the government bribes reporters to make the country look better.
:)
With nearly $1T a year in deficit spending, mostly going to corrupt insiders with connections, the only reason we didn't come close has to be that our insiders paid the raters to score us dishonestly.
