Good old black and whites huh?! Old days: “Hey honey, on yer way in to the kitchen to grab me another beer, adjust the horizontal...the damn picture is rollin’ again”!!!
I remember my father (in the late fifties) pulling tubes out of the back of the Motorola. Then we would go to the hardware store and plug them into a machine to find the bad one. We would get a replacement and then go home and put them all back in. This was usually accompanied by some choice language.
