A Brooklyn man named Barry Baldwin, 35, has been arrested and charged with five incidents in which Jewish women were viciously punched for no apparent reason. The incidents are seen as being connected to a sadistic game called the “knockout game,” which involves targeting unsuspecting victims on the street and knocking them out with a sucker punch.
Police picked up Baldwin last week, and originally connected him to six incidents and charged him with six hate crimes because he targeted Jewish victims, sources told the Daily News. For some reason, the charges were later downgraded to assaults without a hate motive, according to court papers. Prosecutors didn’t comment on the reasons for the downgraded charges.
“Everyone will sleep a little easier,” said Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who has been warning the community about the danger.
Baldwin admitted to five incidents — four last month and one in November — but didn’t explain why he assaulted the women. ....

Are you describing members of Warren Jeff's cult or Orthodox women? From your description, I'd say the former. Orthodox women may dress modestly, but they dress fashionably. They generally wear nylon stockings, not high socks. They are allowed to show their legs below the knee, and most groups of Orthodox allow showing the arm up to the elbow. Only some Chassidic groups insist on sleeves to the wrist.

Warren Steed Jeffs (born December 3, 1955) is the president of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In 2011, Jeffs was convicted of two felony counts of child sexual assault.
Jeffs gained international notoriety in May 2006 when he was placed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution on Utah state charges related to his alleged arrangement of illegal marriages between his adult male followers and underage girls. He was arrested in August 2006 in Nevada, and agreed to be taken to Utah for trial. In May and July 2007 the State of Arizona charged him with eight additional counts, including sexual conduct with minors and incest, in two separate cases.
His Utah trial, which began in early September 2007 in St. George, Utah, lasted less than a month, and on September 25 he was convicted of two counts of rape as an accomplice. On November 20, 2007, he was sentenced to imprisonment for 10 years to life and began serving his sentence at the Utah State Prison. However, the conviction was overturned by the Utah Supreme Court on July 27, 2010, because of incorrect jury instructions.
He was extradited to Texas, where he was found guilty of sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault of children in connection with a raid of an FLDS owned and occupied West Texas ranch in 2008. After the jury had deliberated for less than 30 minutes, 55-year-old Jeffs was sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years, to be served consecutively, and a $10,000 fine for sexual assault of both 12- and 15-year-old girls.
This guy had women held in absolute thrall. They all had to dress in identical dresses which would have been right at home on the set of "Little House on the Prairie". They had very few rights. I guess he took a page out of the Taliban treatment for women.
Where did you teach science at a yeshiva? Brooklyn? I am not Chassidish; just regular Orthodox, so I can show my arm all the way up to below my elbow. And my legs all the way up to below my knee! But I prefer wide ankle length skirts to make sure that, should I have to bend over or jump a fence or catch someone who stole something, I could. And boy, have some students been surprised when I DID catch them running down the hall with something of mine.

Anyway, let me share a story with you. When I graduated college, I lived close to both a Catholic school and a Lubavitcher Yeshiva. I applied to both, although I am neither Catholic nor Jewish.
The Catholic school interview focused on religion, not my competency in teaching science. The Yeshiva interview was just the opposite. I was very impressed with that.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time teaching at the Yeshiva. The only complaint I ever got the entire time was from a parent. He respectfully asked me to give his child more homework!
I eventually moved on to the public schools. There I was told by the administration to give less homework!
