On CNNs State of the Union Sunday, host Candy Crowley asked a question of Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wisc.) that should offend people on both sides of the aisle.
If I am an unemployed American
or if I am a minimum wage worker
why would I become a Republican? (video follows with transcript and commentary):
(video link)
CANDY CROWLEY: If I am an unemployed American and I hear from Republicans that, Yeah, you know, we should go ahead and do that provided we do the following three things, and its a caveat approval of extending those [unemployment] benefits, or if I am a minimum wage worker and I find, I see Republicans who say, You know what? It's artificial, it messes with the marketplace, it might mean some teens can't get into the job market, why would I become a Republican? How do you message that in any way to reach out to those who are disinclined to sign up for the Republican Party?
Doesnt Crowley know that she indicted the Democratic Party as one that is basically buying votes?
So someone thats currently unemployed or on minimum wage must support politicians that promote policies that hurt the very job creation that might lead to them having better lives?
And if Republicans arent willing to support such failed policies, it behooves such an individual to be a Democrat thereby potentially condemning him or herself to mediocrity and possibly lifetime government dependence?
Clearly, Crowley has forgotten that in 1980, a great deal of unemployed and minimum wage workers voted for Ronald Reagan because they realized Democratic policies weren't helping them.
As you would expect, Walker was ready for Crowleys socialist view, and expertly countered it: . .

I did work at minimum wage, but I never expected to stay there. Where does this idiocy come from?
BY the way Candy, how is ObamaCare working out. I like how the White House has put it on media lock down, and the lapdog press, such as yourself, dutifully remain silent. How does it feel to work for Pravda?

That said, the GOP needs to become the party for American growth.
Stop sending American business to China.
Bring it back. America needs balanced trade, and we have lost that.
We need to make things right here.
GOP needs to support America.

Why would any non-Democrat agree to an interview with collaborator (and cow) Candy Crowley?

She just proved that many people are democrats because of what they can get. People are republicans because of what they believe - well, at least the conservatives.

why would I become a Republican? Because you don't want to stay that way for the rest of your life.

I would ask what the republicans were doing to ease job creation. After all, its not like either party is really doing anything to ease the tax burden or regulatory overburden.

Answer: because you want a better paying job.
Democrats take money away from those best able to hire others. Democrats create too many obstacles to create a business. Yes, if you want your minimum wage job to pay you a little more, or want your “free money” check to be a little higher-you should definitely vote democrat...but if you desire to have more jobs to choose from, more jobs with higher pay, opportunities that reward hard work and business investments...vote Republican.

Yo, Candy, if you're lazy, shiftless and require government to take care of you then stay a Democrat.
If your self-esteem requires you to actually pull your own weight (a daunting task for you, I reckon) then you want to be a Republican and demand that government get off the back of businesses, and cut the regulations, and the fees, and the taxes so that a business can actually employed you.

She’s got a point. Imagine a politician standing in front of an arena full of welfare frauds and food-stamp cheats who are living high on the government hog.
Now imagine the reaction when he gives his rallying cry “I’m going to create jobs so you can get off the dole and go back to work!!”
