I know Dubya has some idea of civilizing those bunch of heathens following an awful and oppressive religion bent on killing themselves and all around them. It was a good idea and might work if America will apply itself to the task.
NO, America's mission is to be AMERICAN, not to the worlds government. The last country to do this with any success was England. And the Indians KICKED them out of India after WWII.
If the U.S.A. does fight a WAR it should be for SELF INTEREST of the U.S.A. We should kill and destroy as many as quickly as possible and then go home. The first Bush did this semi successfully in Iraq. Had he killed Sadam Hussein the middle east would be differential to the U.S.A. today. Last good example of this was Israel in 1981 destroying the Osirak Nuclear reactor in IRAQ

If we are not willing to exactly define victory as a military event (in which the enemy is either extinguished or brought fully to Jesus) then count me among those who want nothing to do with this “endless war.”
Where’s my peace freak bumper sticker?
(OTOH, if we’re wasting them, where’s my tactical nuke launcher?)

We should have been out of Afghanistan by the end of 2002, and out of Iraq by the end of 2004. And when we got to Baghdad so quickly with minimal losses, we should have gone into Tehran and solved that problem as well. Go in, solve the problem, and come home. Period.
Now we will never have that chance again. With Obama in the White House now and Hillary being pre-chosen by the media to replace him, it looks like we will continue to make nice speeches and maybe get into an occasional chick war or purse fight when the media acts like they want one.
