I’m looking into my crystal ball and I see you having dinner with a very handsome, lawyer and writer in the near future.

I don’t think so, really.

But it is nice to feel alive; I do think he is very handsome.

He told me the most interesting story, I was spellbound. Maybe it’s out of order for me to repeat but he did not say off the record....not that anyone ever has.

The whole time he was writing this book, a task to which he was very dedicated, his retinas, BOTH of them, kept detaching!

So okay, of all the illnesses I’ve had privy to of recent, detached retinas weren’t part of them. I was amazed. His right one, then his left one, then his right one again. In fact he thanks the doctors at Sussex Eye Center for saving his eyesight as dedication to his book. Alas he did totally lose sight in his left eye and, truly sad, he can only pray that his right eye holds out.

My goodness I didn’t know what to say. I imagined how scary it is to live in fear of impending blindness. I looked up detaching retinas, me and my daughter who asks me every day if I have a “date”....and wow, they are serious things. If not caught right away, sight is lost.

He’s evidently very wealthy....you should see his law offices, big columns, huge affair....him and his partner. He IS the Sussex county attorney and he’s good at his job. Sussex county won’t be hiring no schlacks.

But to be so dedicated to publishing a book before going blind, well I was impressed in a quiet sort of way.

anyway, that’s my story.
