Thanks. I just looked it up and it was about what I remembered. I certainly wasn’t trying to spread misinformation or whatever. I don’t imagine that anybody who has been following this sorry controversy is unaware of it, and that’s why I didn’t think I had to quote it. I was also aware that he made a good point about the cultural changes(more welfare, less God). Of course as always happens, the MSM mostly chose to miss those good points in favor of the sensational stuff.
I still agree with montanajoe that we may not be doing ourselves any favors by belaboring this.
And as soon as I am done with this thread, I personally am going to avoid these Duck threads at all costs.

No did not think you were trying to spread misinformation... just had to toss in my 2 cents on Phil's “race issue”, and happened to be yours I responded too... Just wanted to point out that these statements were no more racial slurs than the other comments were bigoted or homophobic... I mean, was he not trying to get homosexuals saved too?

After getting slapped down HARD, the left is just digging deep to try to save face and destroy a Christian with a large audience... As for the latest outrage, yeah I agree that taking his words, out of context is something we should probably not try to defend, other than maybe giving them some context...
First they are reporting this as it was something he said after the GQ interview and the video is really from 2009...
Secondly, he is talking to a young man at a young mens retreat... The exact age group, I have not been able to find, BUT, He is not advocating men his age (or even his sons age), go and find a 15 year old to marry...
Lastly with the short piece of out of context video, I am not entirely sure he is not again reflecting on his life and really just talking about how much better off marriage was as an institution when most of the girls were getting married at 15 or 16 years old... I know my grandfather passed away just after his 71st wedding anniversary... and not a large percentage of todays weddings will ever make that mark.
