Good reasoning. There's nothing upwind from me (from southwest to northwest) within 800 miles or so. There are drawbacks, though. The climate is the most likely dangerous condition here (extremely high, dry, windy and cold). To get out now requires driving over blown ice drifts for a few miles and only when temperatures are far enough below freezing. If the stuff melted, the vehicle would sink and rest its frame on the ice (requires busting ice with tough shovels).
