Eh, I doubt that. Affluent people aren’t taking horse-drawn carriage rides on NYC.

I think the animal welfare issue is a legitimate concern - I used to walk by the carriage stables on a semi-regular basis, and those horses are some of the worst-kept I’ve ever seen. Not that they should be banned, but there should at least be more attention paid to the horses’ conditions.

Point well taken. I think it's over the top to simply ban them without studying whether improvements can be made.

If it was unionized city workers caring for the horses it would be understandable that they were not treated the best.

Horses have been work animals and pulling carriages for centuries. Now these horses will be sent to slaughter, who can afford to keep them?
