French footballer Nicolas Anelka denied, Sunday, that a gesture he made during a Saturday match was Anti-Semitic, according to Agence France Presse. Using the Twitter social Website, Anelka argued in his tweets that the gesture - in which he thrust his straightened right arm downwards while tapping his bicep with the other hand - was merely "anti-establishment". adding, "I don't know what religion has to do with it. Of course I'm not an anti-Semite or racist and (I) stand by my gesture."

Anelka did assert that the gesture was a dedication to French comedian Dieudonne M'Bala M'Bala who has made overtly anti-Jewish remarks in public for years and has been fined seven times for defamation, insult and provocation to hate, and for racial discrimination. Anelka, a 2004 convert to Islam, could face match suspensions if...

Give me a break. Real anti-Semitic violence and intimidation is really happening on the streets of Paris and London. People have been killed, all by islamofascist shmucks. And what are they all in a lather over? A fascist gesture, a comedian who makes anti-Semitic jokes. Fines? Match suspension? It's free speech. Let it be, and go after the mobs beating people up on the street for wearing a yarmulke.

Never heard of this gesture here in the States. Is it a well known European thing?

Sure, the first thing that would cross my mind if I saw that was "anti-Semitic."

“Moderate” Muslims are just Jihadists who still have something to lose.

His right arm was straight, and it was his right arm. That’s about all this has to do with the fascist salute, in which the right arm is thrust upward. Are You’re-a-peons turning into idiots?

he should have just said it was an antichristian gesture and he’d be a hero instead of a goat.

Still, the “I’m not antisemitic, I only support those who are, (because that’s how they are against The Man or whatever)” argument should raise a few red flags. If he weren’t afraid of public opinion he would probably go all the way with the street mobs and whatnot.

With that gesture I would have thought he was saluting his lord satan.

The Dieudonné “salute” is too popular to dismiss it as not antisemitic.

I believe he’s anti-Semitic. But so what. So’s that guy who did the theme song in Disney’s Tarzan. Antidote to offensive free speech is more free speech.

That’s true. They obviously haven’t heeded the Koran’s “warning” to not be concerned with things of “this life” and so throw themselves headlong into jihad.

I saw that game as I was waiting for the Fulham and Everton highlights. According to them it’s anti-Jew but the excuse by Anelka was hilarious and hard to believe that it was for his comedian friend. Anelka is notoriously known as bag baggage for his past 6 teams that’s why he gets cut loose by his teams.

Yeah, it's time to move away from 'hurt feelings' and on to the real. The United States is trying to screw over Israel... now THAT MATTERS. This crap about everyone has to love everyone (or pretend they do) is silly. And a waste of time.

People didn't like the CEO of Chick fil A? Fine. I'll get a chicken sandwich. Trash Phil on Duck? OK... I'll boycott A&E.

If it was an antisemitic gesture and it was ignore by officials, I would never attend another game. I have freedom - and the assh*les have freedom...

It’s an underground version of Sieg Heil.

You know, the guys - Nazi’s - who started a war that killed millions.

It’s been embraced by some Muslims who use it as ‘cute’ way to attack Jews.

This guy’s career should be over.

Every Jewish group wants this guy banned. Including, you know, the Isrelis you pretend to care about.

You don’t play around with Nazis.

I'm not into foolish drama.

The time to have taken on Nazis was in the 1930’s and 40’s. When it would have mattered. Many in the Jewish community at that time ignored the growing threat - believing their German neighbors too civilized to be the kind of people they actually were... They ignored the massive State powers Nazis were assuming. Ignored the hints of totalitarianism. That's not the case with Nicolas Anelka - he's a powerless loser...

Pretending Nicolas Anelka is a threat might serve some emotional need but it's just not true.

That whole ‘jesse jackson’ thin-skinned bit about imaginary threats is offensive. One nutty white person is not a pattern. Either is one nutty black person. Or one ‘nazi loser’... No one’s going to restart a KKK and put blacks in chains - no one’s going to resurrect the Nazi party. Everyone’s on the watch for that evil... might be fun to fight yesterday's wars, but it's an ineffective strategy against future evils.

The biggest threat now - biggest real threat - now as then - is with large powerful establishment groups. In our time it's groups like State sponsored radical Muslims. And the totalitarian movement happening within the United States right now - still in it's infancy, but growing ... Or current groups like those in the Obama Administration willing to throw Israel to the wolves. That's where our passion belongs...

If all the modern day ‘Nazis’ got together they couldn't elect a city dog catcher in any part of the Western world - no less take over a Western country. Their a diversion. Boycott them, mock them, but don't waste social capital on their foolishness.

Fighting yesterday's battles feels good... it's just not great strategy.
