Good to know. I had planned to stay up long enough to watch it drop (11:00 where I live) but now I won’t bother. I do want to remember Mr. Mercat’s mother who passed away last January. By New Year’s Eve she was ill enough that she had to have someone with her 24/7. My sister in law drew the New Year’s Eve shift. She was sound asleep on the sofa in the next room when she heard a bell ringing wildly. She went in thinking Irene had fallen or worse and saw her sitting up in bed with a huge grin saying, “Happy New Year.” So Happy New Year Irene You are missed.
