A prominent New Jersey doctor well known for taking in foster kids was rocked by an unthinkable horror when one of his adopted children allegedly stabbed another to death in their home.
Rest peacefully, angel, Dr. Robert Gallo wrote on his Facebook page with a picture of his daughter Teia, 20.
Her foster brother, Travis Gallo, 17, allegedly stabbed her repeatedly with a kitchen knife at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in front of two other siblings at their Washington Township home, sources said.

But then again BJ Raji is from Washington Twp, and was a great kid. His mother is probably one of the nicest people you’d ever meet. Coaches at Westwood from the first moment they saw him freshman year looked at each other and said this kid’s going to be playing football on Sundays.
I think the brother that murderd his sister had deep issues that were not seen, or not seen as seriously as they needed to be, by the parents, and given the size of the family. Raising children requires time, quality timew, and getting enough quality time for each child IS naturally more difficult with more children. I am not excusing the brother. I am noting that something was deeply amiss with the brother and it had escaped the parents attention. That does not surprise me. Love is not enough. It takes time, quality time and its hard to do with a very large family.
“... if I am going to adopt anything, it’s going to be a dog. I can do just fine without any adopted humans...”
Wow... I can tell my seven year old that I should have gotten a poodle. If a person declares that they are against abortion, they should be in support of adoption. It’s that simple unless you feel that all unwanted children should be warehoused? This article leaves out a lot of info: what were the conditions of the first three years in this child’s life? I agree with the post that this doctor (although trying to do good) may have bitten off more than he could chew. That many children (especially with children that may have had years of physical and mental abuse prior to adoption) should have been given the time of a parent not divided so much. Just my opinion...
I despise the Kennedy clan as much as any other rational thinking person, but Skakel, the perp in that case, has no Kennedy blood running through his veins. He's Ethel's brother's kid.
“theres always a tendency to gravitate toward their own kind.
Example: Barack Obama
Totally identifies with this black half - disses the white half.
I agree. Not excusing him but I wonder at people who adopt large families. It takes more than love. I know things now about types of therapy that I did not know when she was a toddler.
They had this child from the age of 3, he was raised in a great neighborhood and not in poverty!
So you’re saying rich white people don’t commit murder?
Nature vs nurture. Nature always wins (without the grace of God)
I’ve adopted 3 kids, at the age of 9 months, 3 years and 13 months. The two who were adopted at the younger ages bonded more readily. Those two have a bright future ahead of them and are close to us and to their extended family. They have several close friends.
The one adopted at 3 years has been our most difficult to raise, and now that he is an adult he wants little to do with his family and has few friends. He has grown increasingly self centered after he left home, and because of that has difficulty in all areas of life. Those first few years of life are huge. If the baby cannot effectively attach to a loving adult then, chances are they will have difficulty attaching to others afterwards.
The killer was adopted at the age of three. He may have had a terrible childhood before then, but I do believe there are inborn tendencies in people, and that very sadly, adopted children are more likely to be afflicted with mental illness and pathological aggression.
Their mothers may have given them up because they themselves were mentally ill, or lacked all maternal feeling. They may also have given them up because the father was very bad news. The babies may have been affected by maternal drug or alcohol abuse. This is especially true in a society when adoption is not the usual solution to unwed pregnancy or poverty as it was in the past.
A disproportionate number of serial killers are adopted, although one researcher claims that is because of the primal trauma of adoption.
Of course there are many healthy, wonderful people who have been adopted - and there are biological families who have their own inherited problems - but then you are more prepared for what you get.
If you want to adopt them, then you adopt them.
I like dogs, and I don’t feel guilty about it at all.
My heart does not bleed for mankind.
“No one knows for sure what they’re going to get even when they have children of their own.”
Very true.
“So youre saying rich white people dont commit murder?”
Remember the nut scientist who killed her colleagues at that Southern state university (can’t remember where - Birmingham?)
Then later it came out that years before she had shot her brother to death and got away with it, claiming it was an accident? And in between she and her husband had been suspected in some mail bomb incident?
I don’t know if she was rich, but she was certainly white and solidly middle class.
Some people are bad and they do bad things. It’s tragic, but it happens in all groups.
All the racist analysis is idiotic. Trash comes in all colors and black behavior was once much more stable before the disintegration of the black family.
Armchair science about “why” blacks do something worse than whites is pathetic.
I know a white family with a biologic son who rescued a white child from an orphanage. The new white child was doing things like trying to set the house on fire. He finally tried to kill their son by smashing his head against a concrete floor.
So do you want to analyze why white kids have nervous systems that are prone to murder? Maybe because of the climate they developed in?
Be real.
As for this “eyes” business you see plenty of white people with dead eyes, plenty of trash you know would kill and not think twice about it, plenty of angry whites who you try to get away from and keep away from.
I wouldn’t draw any kind of conclusions without knowing a lot more. If, as another poster says, they had had the child since he was three, the family has raised him from a pup. This is not a case of fostering a troubled teenager, which is a much higher risk. The story says he had a very difficult relationship with his sister, who was also adopted at a young age ... so these two kids, who had grown up together, were at war with each other. Who knows what was going on?
Don’t tell me, tell the person who wrote that racial analysis of black people, above.
