The white Texas man facing federal hate crime charges for allegedly slugging a 79-year-old black man in a “knockout game” assault was denied bail Friday for an attack prosecutors say was racially motivated.
During a hearing in U.S. District Court in Houston, U.S. Magistrate Judge Frances Stacy said suspect Conrad Barrett, 27, is a flight risk and danger to the community, according to Barrett’s lawyer, George Parnham.

“Hate crimes tear at the fabric of entire communities,” said Acting Assistant U.S. Attorney General Jocelyn Samuels in a statement announcing Barrett’s charges Thursday.

For once, I wish some high powered criminal lawyer would take his case pro bono, to turn the trial into a challenge of the hate crime law. While they would have to face insane levels of hateful PR, for defending this scum, he might even force Holder to send in a top notch federal prosecutor to defend it, turning it into another “monkey trial.”
I have zero sympathy for anyone doing this particular crime.
I love these dramatic metephores, “Hate crimes tear at the fabric of entire communities.” Indeed, hate crimes are like milk and egg farts in a fancy restaurant, but we mustn’t be honest about who is doing all most of the farting. Rare white on black violence is hate, while exceedingly frequent black on everyone else violence is “game,” because we are to believe these black yoots are too aimless and animal like to hate.
You are perfectly correct. The only thing his motivation should be used for is determining the length of his sentence after he is convicted of committing assault.
You know it won't. This guy is gonna get all the press. It could happen 29 times with the opposite racial dynamic, and they will go virtually unreported.
Even here on Free Republic ... I don't remember many, if any, black on white "KO's" with multiple postings, but this one has already been posted repeatedly.
