OK, I am a newbie there, and not there right now due to work. Thanks for the information, it relieves my concern.

“Or some liberal federal judge will rule against it.”

Commandeering states to do the bidding of the federal fascist government has already been heard by the USSC in Printz v US.

That case was decided under the concept of dual sovereignty.

.......the governor can and often does call a “special session” for important legislation. I can’t think of anything more important than this.

“the governor can and often does call a “special session” for important legislation.”

No, he doesn't do it often between sessions. It costs millions to call a session after they all leave Austin.

If there are still important matters/bills pending at the end of a regular session, he will call a special session starting immediately after that session ends - like the session ends on a Friday and the special one starts on Sat., Sunday, or Monday.

Our state, Texas, turned down expanding Medicaid nor did they set up an insurance exchange like Obama wanted. Other states can make laws if they want, but Texas has already refused to set up an exchange, and did it back in 2012.

November, 2012:
“A day before a Friday deadline, Gov. Rick Perry announced Texas would not set up a key component of the Affordable Care Act, a health-insurance exchange that would allow individuals and small businesses to find coverage online at the most favorable price.

The governor reiterated his opposition in a letter released Thursday to U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

“As long as the federal government has the ability to force unknown mandates and costs upon our citizens, while retaining the sole power in approving what an exchange looks like, the notion of a state exchange is merely an illusion,” Perry said in the letter. “It would not be fiscally responsible to put hard-working Texans on the financial hook for an unknown amount of money to operate a system under rules that have not even been written.”
