Females in the Marine Corps will not have to meet the physical fitness standard--set to go into effect as of January --of being able to do at least three pull-ups, the Corps quietly announced on social media.
Unlike their female counterparts, male Marines have long been required to do at least 3 pullups.

Don't forget the horizontal ladder. We had to do before every meal in the mess hall. Being over 6' 2", I hated that thing because I had to help the shorter guys get ON it.
Gee, I’m outta work, maybe I should join the new military. Private Benjamin and me would fit in perfectly!
Thank you for your service, Marine.
They also don’t have to sign up for the draft to get their student loans.
Employing logic, or attempting to wrap your head around this silliness, will cause headaches, and could possibly lead to a grey matter hernia.
Don’t claim later that you haven’t been warned.
Personally, I'm more concerned about the male Marine pullup standard being at ONLY 3!! That's sad, very f'n sad!!
>> We are just unreconstructed sexist pigs for wanting members of our fighting forces to, you know, win a fight.
The good news is, when they lose the battle and are taken prisoner, their section of the POW camp will have, at best, one latrine — and it’ll be male/female/LGBT equal. Victory!!!
LOL! Pull-ups were always what saved my ass in PFTs. Can't run for jack (never could) but good old pull-ups gave the the points I needed.
I’m 55 and I can do 20 pull ups.
Every now and then there will be a girl who is way out of the normal range for girls.
Many years ago, my Sister had me baby sit her two daughters who were 3 and 5. I took them out to the play ground and was letting them play on the equipment. I held the 5 year old up to the horizontal bars and she could only go to one before she fell.
The 3 year old kept begging to try and I finally let her. To my amazement, she went across them like a little monkey. She had no trouble at all going all the way to the end. Several times over the years I noticed how athletic she was.
She turned out to be a beautiful girl and married a guy who was into weight lifting. They now have two nearly grown Sons. One of them went undefeated in wrestling his junior year. I have not heard about his senior year yet.
I think she is probably one in a hundred thousand tho. Maybe even more rare than that.
For a marine, no strength means no ammo.
Maybe this will be the final wake up call for military feminism - running out of ammo in a firefight, and then telling the mujahadin that you want to call a time out.
God, I can’t believe things have gotten this damned STUPID!
Yes, they have to do 3 limp-wristed pullups
“We” who?
I was lousy at pull-ups, at the beginning of basic, but we had to go through the monkey bars before chow 3x a day, so I think that really helped to build up my arms and shoulders after a while. I eventually got to where I could exceed the minimum requirements rather easily.
I think the 3 pullup rule was just so the old timers (lifers) could past the pft. Many were barfing after the 3 mile run, haha.
As far as boot camp we ate 15 feet of vertical rope every morning before breakfast and packed m-14’s at port arms for 3 months, we had arm/shoulder strength. Spiderman never had anything on me.
Post o' the day!!!! LOLOL
I’d rather do pullups.
Three measly pull-ups for a male? WTH is going on!?
