Oh the intolerant tolerance brigade...
Like just about every news outlet in the country, NBC 15 in Madison featured the latest on the Duck Dynasty controversy involving the show's star Phil Robertson and comments he made about homosexuality to GQ magazine.
Robertson was suspended by A&E for his remarks that some considered bigoted and intolerant. But in NBC 15's coverage of the story, morning anchor Christine Bellport managed to insert her own biases and bigotry into the coverage.
BELLPORT: I mean I'm sorry to say. When you look at the guy, I'm not surprised with the comments he made. You know what I mean? I'm not surprised. And I don't really know why anyone else is surprised.
SHORTINO: Have you seen the show?
BELLPORT: No.
In the wake of Bellport's comments, NBC 15 posted an apology on their Facebook page that reads:
The comments made today on The Morning Show by anchor Christine Bellport regarding the Duck Dynasty story do not reflect the views of NBC 15 or the NBC 15 newsroom. NBC 15 News Director Russ Bruhn has spoken with Christine about her comments. Keeping with company policy, this is a matter that will be handled internally. We understand the importance of basing our reporting and our anchor comments on facts and not opinions. NBC 15 apologizes for the comments and regrets that Christine offended viewers and Mr. Robertson.
Robertson's comments have set off a firestorm about the First Amendment, religious liberty, tolerance and intolerance, and the limits of free speech in American culture.
Now that’s weird. Most folks think the anchor is about as useful as one in the middle of a desert.
I see a bright future for her at MSNBC.
I can tell Christine Bellport looks like an airhead without even seeing her picture.

What NBC 15 was really saying is “There are a lot of hunters in Wisconsin, including duck hunters, and we want them to keep watching this station.”
What they said to Christine was “Understand we’re going to have to issue some kind of statement. But don’t worry about it.”

I just saw a trailer for a movie with Julia “Big Mouth” Roberts and ugly Meryl Streep. (I’m not prejudging them. I’m not blind.) Streep, in a very bigoted way, tells Roberts’ character “You look like a lesbian.”
They can get away with it but wrongfully accuse others who don’t even do it.
Sounds like her bosses shussed her real quick after the fire storm unleashed on A&E.
N.B.C. bosses, no less.
Yet another liberal exposing THEIR bigotry.
After looking at you Christine, I wouldn’t be surprised if you sleep with monkeys.
What is it exactly that makes Robertson look like a bigot?
He’s white
He has a beard
He wears camo clothing
He’s a southerner
I guess that’s all you need to know to tell if a person is a bigot.
