The Cost Of Green: In the midst of an unparalleled energy boom, U.S. electricity prices have skyrocketed to new highs. This paradox is a result not of the free market, but of runaway government "green" regulation.
Unnoticed by virtually everyone except the sharp-eyed folks at CNSNews.com, new federal data show that electricity prices have never been higher.
In November, the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Electricity Price Index hit 202.284, an all-time record and nearly 20% higher than just six years ago.
This might strike some as strange, given the private-sector shale-fracking boom going on in the Midwest, Northeast and Texas, which has led to soaring new domestic supplies of natural gas and oil.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, as recently as 2008 the U.S. produced 2.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. Today, it's 12.3 billion cubic feet and growing fast truly astounding growth.
Meanwhile, the U.S. is on the verge of producing more oil than it ever has, and domestic sources now outstrip foreign ones. Thanks to fracking, more's on the way.
But as energy booms, electricity prices are going up.
Is it just another case of greedy energy companies and utilities sticking it to consumers? Hardly. You might hear that from your local Democratic politician, but it ain't so.

Now, who woulda thunk it? sOMEONE SHOULD’VE WARNED HIM.
Yep, the turkey is sitting back and laughing up his sleeve.
Barack Obama: "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket." (January 2008)

Anyone who is surprised by this was NOT paying attention and should LOSE their right to vote, until they understand the consequences of their ignorance
-Obama
It's was there for all to see. Obama told us he was going to do this, so why are people acting surprised that his regulations and executives orders are in fact strangling businesses and driving up the cost of production?
My electric bill here in MA has skyrocketed recently.
I try to turn the lights off and save but it seems to not help much.
I’m paying something like .18 per kilowatt hour. used to be 9 cents.
Electricity as a luxury item.
.18 per kwh is outrageous but sadly more and more areas will be paying that or more.
Ours is still down to .09 or a little below here in WA state but that’s only because of hydroelectric from the Columbia River dams and they’re requiring more and more from wind turbines which will up the cost.
The real turkey is the entire Green effort
Don’t forget the taxpayer and rate payer subsidies for roof top solar. Basically it means rather than pay 4 cents for reliable 24x7 power from a power plant we are all forced to pay 14 cents for unreliable power that is only valuable on sunny summer days when it can be used locally. The rest of the rime solar power has less value than the 4 cent wholesale power since it is not reliable and not provided at peak.
Reply of the day as far as I'm concerned.
My problem is that I was paying attention and still got screwed.

Yep, those subsidies are taxpayer monies down the drain. The life of those systems do not warrant the cost to taxpayers.
Warren Buffet just bought up our power company. Who’d a thunk? Must be quite a lot of money to make?
Every few years or so, the human race gets gripped by a bout of collective insanity.
We are living in one of those times.
You can almost feel the gaze of future generations of history students as they shudder and think ,”no, no ...don't do that. don't go there....”.
Kind of like we do when we read about guys like Caligula, Pol Pot, Hitler and Neville Chamberlain
Yea.
