I remember a Christmas or two where I was lucky enough to trade a can of C-ration “Beef in spiced sauce” for a can of “Turkey Loaf”.
Made things so festive.
In 67 we had turkey loaf in the mess hall at Chu Lai
but I got to pose with a turkey leg and all the trimmings
for a photo to be sent home to the hometown paper.
