A terrorist prisoner who went on a hunger strike in order to pressure Israel to release him was released on Monday from an Israeli prison.

According to The Associated Press (AP), Samer Issawi returned home to a joyous welcome from friends and family.

Issawi’s on and off hunger strike lasted for more than eight months, until he agreed to a deal with Israel last April.

Issawi agreed to serve eight months for violating bail conditions and then be freed to his Jerusalem home.

On Monday evening, he underwent a medical exam in an ambulance parked outside the prison in northern Israel and then drove off, according to AP.

As he arrived at his home, the report said, local residents prepared a hero’s welcome. Boys wore hooded sweat shirts with Issawi’s picture, a PLO flag and the word “resist” printed on them. Motorists put Issawi posters on their cars and a school yard across from his house was prepared for a ceremony.

“He came back in triumph,” read a banner near his home.

Issawi was first arrested in 2002 and sentenced to 26 years for terrorist activity. He was released in the Shalit deal in October 2011, but rearrested in July for violating the terms of the release agreement.

What is it about people who voluntarily deprive themselves of food that makes people comply with their demands? I see/hear of it all the time here in the US.

Search me. They should gun him down like a dog next time he causes trouble. Then he can hunger strike in hell.

another stupid mistake by the Isr govt.
when will they ever learn?
or will they?

it seems as if suicide is in the Jewish soul, even in Israel (which was, in part, supposed to cure that problem)

What is it about low-life scum that makes anyone want to keep them alive? He’s a terrorist. If he wants to starve, oblige him and don’t feed him.

On the contrary. We didn’t survive the past 3.5 millenia by being suicidal. If it’s in there, it’s not the controlling factor. But when I see what these idiots running the State of Israel get up to, I suspect that they have succumbed to the death wish virus that infects us all, libtardus cowtowimus, or whatever it’s called.

It’s a much stronger factor than most people would like to believe however. It is a genuine miracle Israel survives with such a suicidal drive in so many of its leaders over the years. Including at present. Must be watched very very carefully lest it succeed
