Seriously, is it THAT unreasonable to ask millionaires with college degrees to keep their noses clean? Lay off the booze and behave yourself. Save the thuggery for after you’ve “retired”. Be a good neighbor. Walk AWAY from altercations. Ignore insults. “Living well is the best revenge”.
Some day the NFL and its several owners will start to look at more than athletic ability—they’ll put some thought into what kind of a PERSON they are hiring. There will be morality clauses in their contracts that require good behavior on and off the field.
But is sure isn’t gonna be today.
I know the guy is injured, but what the Hell is he doing in Grapevine, TX when the rest of the team is in Philly for one of the biggest games of the year?
That’s why I much prefer following soccer instead of football, there are a couple of head cases in soccer, to be sure, but nothing like this.
college degrees they didn’t have to crack a book to receive of course
I understand your view, but I have a little more sympathy for these guys after watching the ESPN show 30-30: Broke.
They have a lot of pressures on them that we don’t understand and are often in pain. Sometimes I think all the drunk stuff now is due to better policing for drugs. They use booze instead of pain meds. I don’t know if it still happens, but the teams used to give the players morphine.
If you get a chance, watch that show. It’s on Netflix if you subscribe to that.
