Radiation from Fukushima Will Be 10 Times Bigger than All of the Radiation from Nuclear Tests
Zero Hedge ^ | 12/22/2013 | George Washington

Posted on 12/22/2013 7:51:41 AM PST by Errant

This graphic from Woods Hole in Massachusetts – one of the world’s top ocean science institutions – shows how much more cesium was dumped into the sea off Japan from Fukushima as compared to nuclear testing and Chernobyl [above]:

The Canadian government has confirmed in October that Fukushima radiation will exceed “levels higher than maximum fallout” from the nuclear tests.

The party line from the Japanese, Canadian and American governments are that these are safe levels of radiation. Given that those countries have tried to ban investigative journalism and have tried to cover up the scope of the Fukushima disaster, people may want to investigate for ourselves.

Has anyone begun a systematic survey and analysis of sea food around the pacific basin with respect to the sea water flows around Japan and the basin?

I would bet one or several governments have, but good luck getting that data.

“The party line from the Japanese, Canadian and American governments are that these are safe levels of radiation.”

And we can surely trust them, especially the Japanese govt, now can’t we? sarc/ This is going to royally f**k up marine life in the Pacific. And their is no end to this in sight.

But bearing in mind the recent Japanese legislation criminalizing dissent by Japanese citizens and the tendency for powerful entities like Tokyo Electric to downplay bad news, an independent survey and analysis is a given. Why the song and dance by the powers that be? Especially when garbage “science” like glo-Bull warming is still getting such coverage?

Yeah, the article seems to deal with "total" release, and is comparing it with other releases.

Thanks,

I’ve often wondered if there were a modern day “Battle of the Coral Sea”, prior to any war being declared, how would such an event be reported?

...such as nuclear torpedos fired between submariners, or North Korean/Islamic Jihadist/Chinese adversaries,...how would such an event be handled by an American Administration like Clinton handled, say Flight 800,...iaw std CTs.

The evidence of such a remote event might be controllable. Physical evidence such as seismology and radioactive fallout might also be reported by ‘knowledgeable sources’.

Such things are highly improbably, IMHO, but more plausible than Obama becoming President or Hillary becoming a Senator for NY, but then again those things have already happened.

Go figure.

I've already been directly affected as a lover of fresh Alaskan salmon for months now. It's almost impossible to find in my location now.

Did the denizens of ZeroHedge tie in the chemtrail connection too?

If I recall correctly, the largest release of radioactive materials routinely comes from deep water volcanism. Seemed like it was orders of magnitude larger than these releases, but I can’t locate the numbers at present.

Well many of us happen to like sea food. I adore crustaceans and they tend to be filter feeders, one of the worst bio-accumulators.

IF there is a danger, screw the pro-big business types, deal with the freekin danger they created or yes, I would gladly join in that previously mentioned hail of lawsuits.

Just because something is useful does not give it immunity with respects to it`s negative effects on "We the people."

Radioactive Cesium (Cs 134 and Cs 137) concentrations are tracked at various locations around the world and in fact are continuously and routinely monitored by DHS for anti terrorism purposes at various locations in the US.

The upper limit normal background radiation levels are generally used as the “safe” upper levels for obvious reasons.

They have not moved significantly in sea water since Fukishima, even in Tokyo which is close to Fukishima.

The Japanese response to Fukishima has been worse than incompetent but it has not resulted in a world wide disaster by any means.

“Radiation from Fukushima Will Be 10 Times Bigger than All of the Radiation from Nuclear Tests”

That’s a suspiciously round number. Are they sure it won’t be 9 times, or 12?

One thing I’ve noticed about ZeroHedgers, they’ll fall for anything that has a chart to go along with it.

So, what do the Hedgers want done about this problem?

You are correct.

Radioactivity is a normal component of our environment.

In fact, Uranium mines are usually located in or near near what once was a volcanic vent (especially and underwater volcanic vent) or in an area where normal geologic process has deposited them in concentrated form from a volcanic vent .

Oops, let me try that reply again.

So, what do the Hedgers want done about this problem?

Accurate and timely access to ALL of the data, and to FIX the problem.

The “immediate” “high” numbers of released particles is vastly over-powered by the small ppm numbers in the oceans, on the whole, after dispersal throughout the seas.

On the other hand, it might call into question whether or not a large Fukishima type nuclear plant belongs sited near any body of water other than a man-made body of water that might go no where but directly down into the ground beneath it.

“will be”? Typical wiggle statement by alarmist liberal types that hate nuclear power. Let’s us know when it actually is.

Especially any body of water next to a convergent boundary where the opposite tectonic plant is subducting under the one on which it sits - much less six of them in close proximity, so one contaminates and prevent access to the others.

Readings become “red” if there is an increase of average radiation. Scroll over to Japan and enlarge to Fukishima. It is green, but the radiation is literally off the charts. It will spike if there is an event, like breaking a fuel rod as it is pulled out of storage pool #4. We have had these spikes. I listen to the experts, like Gunderson, or Suzuki, and a few others, and I am afraid.http://www.netc.com/

Have you seen any progress reports of the ongoing decommissioning at Fukushima?
