More than 1,500 staff and students at a Southern California high school were tested for tuberculosis after one student was diagnosed with the bacterial infection last month, health officials said Friday.
Nearly 1,400 students and faculty at Indio High School were tested on Friday and around 130 students had the TB tests on Monday.
Forty-five students tested positive for possible exposure but more tests, including X-rays will be needed to determine whether they have active TB, health officials said.

Just carrying the diseases Americans won’t.
The authorities waited for more than a month before doing the testing. Yet they insist that they know what they are doing and are right on top of it.
Also, not releasing the name of the kid who had TB. In the old days, they certainly would have done so, so anyone who had contact with him outside of school could get checked out and head off any further spread.

93% of the student body is hispanic and 72% on the free/reduced lunch program. That pretty much says it all. Viva la Mexico!
Thus proving....that government is failing us and has failed us on almost every level except one. We haven’t been nuked (yet).
Well, they wouldn’t want the sick kid to have hurt feelings by others knowing who he/she is. Can’t chance him or her feeling bad about herself. That would be devastating. So a few dozen kids coming down with TB is well worth the risk of not taking that chance, dontcha know.
So everyone just sit back and relax. Government has everything under control, rest assured. Government is see all, know all and control all. So we’re in safe hands. (/end sarc)
Aye Carumba!
To those being tested, I have this encouraging note: These tests (like for HIV) do not test for the presence of the disease, but rather the anti-bodies to the disease. Why is this important? Because a positive result merely means you’ve been exposed, not that you are infected.
“We havent been nuked (yet).”
Not to worry. owebama is focused like a laser beam on getting this done too.

When a country has no standards and refuses to protect its borders it ceases to be a country. Our constitution demands the federal government protect the States from invasion. It has failed to do so and refuses to do so. It is time to abolish the federal government. It taxes us but then does not represent us with our money.
Third world peoples in a Third world land with Third world problems.
While it is true that TB can be acquire in other public places, attending a school with large numbers of illegal aliens can be avoided with homeschooling.
Indio HS is chock full of illegals. This TB exposure does not surprise me in the least.
No esta mierde otra vez. (Sorry, my keyboard doesn’t have the “accents.”)
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Additionally, are there not drug-resistant strains? The fellow in the article is trying to convince those people that everything’s under control.
