Looks like their "Diversity" business plan is not working out as well as they predicted.

All Darden restaurants, in my humble opinion, have crappy food that is poorly prepared and eventually served up by a wait staff that is indifferent to customers.

Olive Garden has “high end” diners? Seriously? Is this from the Onion?

Thanks for the thread, it’s a reminder for me to flag down the next Scwan’s truck I see and buy a bag of frozen Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

Maybe it’s because their food sucks. Just a wild guess on my part.

Owner Darden Restaurants says the seafood chain is underperforming and wants to sell it.

I love seafood... I stopped going to RL years ago

Service sucks
Food is only decent
Prices were high compared to what you got
Oh' did I say service sucks...

My kids convinced me to go to Red Lobster 3 times. Every time I wound up sick.

Being a lifelong resident of coastal New England *real* lobsters are no more than a few hours away from the boats so there's no need for a “Red Lobster” around here. But I'm one of those rare New Englanders who has no interest in seafood but would much rather a nice piece of sirloin.

Darden Ditches Red Lobster Chain, Halts Expansion Of Olive Garden & LongHorn Steakhouse

In addition to calling for the company to institute a three-way split in its operations, Barrington also said the company should aim for $100 million in cost savings. Darden had set a target of $60 million, according to The New York Times.

Although Barrington was not pleased that Darden didn’t follow its advice, some analysts were more positive about Darden’s announced efforts. David Palmer, at RBC Capital Markets in a client note said the moves represented, “a more shareholder-friendly strategy.” Palmer did caution that Darden had made some big promises and might not be able to deliver.

I would in no way pay $12.99 for a plate of stupid noodles from yuppie-yuk Olive Gardens. I can get that same meal from a box of Kraft noodles at the grocery store for 99¢.

I’d much rather chew an old goat’s leg than torture myself with garbage from yuppie-puke Olive Gardens.

You might be able to get away with it in the Midwest, but you can’t just microwave some frozen lobster in butter and serve it to Mainers.

Red Lobster Sucks!

Didn't they fire their female CEO a while back?

Her attempts at drawing in anorexics and orthorexics that will pay for the all-you-can-eat meal and maybe grab one, perfect shrimp at most, failed miserably.

Their problem is that they don’t turn their tables over fast enough at dinner time an they are not a lunch place like Olive Garden (better price & chick food) or Longhorn (sandwiches and burgers).

When we’re in Maine, we cook our lobsters and eat them at home. They’ve been pretty cheap recently, and if they’re still alive when you drop them in the pot, then you can be sure that they’re fresh.

We generally buy straight from the lobsterman, whom we’ve known for a long time, on the day of the feast.
