Its patriarch has been indefinitely suspended. Activist groups like GLAAD and the NAACP are piling on. The Robertson family "can't imagine" the show without Phil "at the helm."
But are "Duck Dynasty's" days numbered in the wake of the patriarch's polarizing comments on gays and African Americans?
Far from it.
"This controversy will quickly pass and do no damage to the brand," says David E. Johnson, CEO of the PR and branding agency Strategic Vision LLC. "The reason is that the controversy reinforced the brand image. The brand image of Robertson and 'Duck Dynasty' is that they speak their minds and live their lives as they believe best. His comments reinforced that image."

Indeed, the mobilization of die-hard "Duck" aficionados may only make the hit reality series even bigger when it returns to the airwaves on Jan. 15. But based on a survey of experts, A&E's swift, decisive move to suspend Robertson was the right one.
"I'm sure the A&E executives are sitting around a table going, 'We don't want another Paula Deen moment … We don't want to lose one of our biggest talents, but we're not going to put up with this kind of speech,'" crisis-PR strategist Howard Bragman tells "omg! Insider."

Beck is offering to pick up the show from what I hear.
Mika is a poster child for “good is bad, up is down, black is white...etc.”

The NAACP is all bent out of shape because Phil stated that he never saw any discrimination against blacks in Louisiana back before the Civil Rights movement and he pointed out that people were happier back then too.
Yeah. He said it on his show. Beck would love to have them on his network. Any decent network would love to have them.
A&E took the wrong side on this issue. They dissed the natural 98% to appease the homosexual 2%. Pretty stupid move on their part.
Actually, I don’t recall him referring to “before Civil Rights”. I do remember him saying before Welfare, and before the Entitlement State.

So the NAACP is all bent out of shape because blacks and whites were friends back then? No race baiters from the NAACP lived in that town to start a war?
You'd think the race baiters would be happy to hear this! Instead, they find the concept of blacks and whites getting along appalling????
It’s a reference to some supposed comments he made about the blacks with whom he picked cotton being “happy” back then....Of course the left took that out of context and blew it up to mean something entirely different, but then, they always do....

Reminds me of the Chick fil A protest - we turned out almost a million people on limited notice. The gay community couldn’t field 2 gays per city to ‘kiss’ at noon for reporters willing to wait for them...
In the minds of people like this, nothing is more wholesome, with the possible exception of killing babies.
You sure can't argue with the Biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah on that point...even after being were struck blind, they'll still try to "getcha."
We won the Chick-fil-A thing hands down.
But since they control the Media, Academia and Law, they continued to cram it down our throats, and now we have “gay marriage” in 17 states.
And yet, they won. That's how it works. Decent people get outraged; outrageous people win. Obama's America.
I guess all sex is anal when you're an ass....
