I think subconsciously they replace God with government
They think they don’t need God, they are comfortable and they don’t worry about money. But they do need God, then they seem to love having to serve government (just the democrat side, of course) its why they dutifully sign up for obamacare

These mediates make fun of people for their religiosity but they have their own brand of worship, they just don’t know it.
The irony is they’re the dopes. The religion they choose by default, govt worship, is not based on truth. So it falls apart
