A young Hoboken man out holiday shopping with his wife at a high-end New Jersey mall was executed by two carjackers as he tried to protect his terrified spouse, authorities said Monday.
Dustin Friedland, 30, and Jamie Schare Friedland, 27, both lawyers, had their arms full of packages and were headed back to their 2012 Range Rover in the parking garage near Nordstrom at The Mall at Short Hills when they were accosted at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, cops said.
The couple was toting so many bags, they looked as if “they were trying to get all their Christmas shopping done in one night,” a source at the mall recalled.
Friedland had opened the SUV door for his wife and was heading around to the driver’s side when the thugs — who had circled the garage at least twice trolling for victims — made their move.

Thank goodness the victim didn’t live in a concealed carry state, where he might have also hurt or killed the wealth redistributors.

As long as no precious police were hurt, then why the big fuss? After all the NJ police have to concentrate on more important crimes like gun possession

No mention of important info like a description. Same media can report though on the speed and type vehicle George Zimmerman was driving when given a speed warning in a state 1000 miles away from his home.
In Newark, all they would have to do is put a net around the whole place and they would have the perp to this and a bunch of other crimes.

I have a couple of questions:
Cops are reputed to believe this was part of a car jacking ring.
Rings are in it for the money.
Where is any money in stealing, killing and abandoning?
How often do thieves put two shots in the victims head? Chest or gut maybe, but two to the head?
And then dump the expensive vehicle rather than collecting the cash for it after putting their own neck in the noose?
My guess is that it was a hit job related to his profession as a patent lawyer.
Most patents have a high price, both emotionally and financially.
Classic "Condition White" behavior while assuming you're "safe" in a high-end mall parking lot. Those lots are just a shopping zone for the scumbags since there are so many easy marks there - especially so in a state (NJ) that has made itself a criminal empowerment zone.
someone may have decided that after being involved in a homicide this vehicle was now a little to hot to handle and not worth the exposure.
Fox reports this AM that the police description is “Two Dark Skinned Males” Either frostbitten Eskimos or sunburned Amish I’ll bet.
The police were really on top of it all closing that barn door forthrightly when they knew the thugs were gone.
