“2,000 years and at hand seem to be diametrically opposed.”
Yep. They are.
Indeed... I’m not going to let my late to the party status interfere with my clever quip...
“I bet he didn’t see THAT coming...”
“Meanwhile former Veep Al Gore Jr. still rakes in the millions on his way to securing illgotten BILLIONS.”
Camping, Gore, Lindsay, van Impe, et al are all cut from the same cloth, and the message is surprisingly similar: man (or man’s sin) is destroying the planet and only the return of Christ (or socialism) can fix what’s been broken.
Both views espouse a utopian future: for some Christians, Christ. For Gore and others, a benevolent dictatorship or oligarchy (the U.N.).
Time prevents me from going into detail as to why this is so wrong on so many levels, but unless and until people start taking God’s word seriously, we’re going to continue to have false prophets of doom, like Camping and Gore, who will fleece sincere but gullible followers for every penny they can squeeze out of them.
I reject Futurism. I reject Dispensationalism. I reject any of these man-made doctrines - like the Rapture - that give people false hope by creating false prophets and teachers. These views are killing the church and they need to end NOW!
“Being saved doesnt t make one knowledgeable or accurate about Bible Prophecy or even the other doctrines of the Bible.”
But it should make one a disciple of Christ. To be a disciple is to be disciplined, and study is part of the training necessary to be mature in Christ.
Newborn babies are ignorant of virtually everything, yet we don’t expect them to stay that way. Neither did Paul nor the apostles expect the people they brought to salvation in Christ to stay as “babes” in Christ.
Algore is a failed theology student (as is Jerry Brown). You might say that Jim Jones, L. Ron Hubbard, and Charles Manson were more successful at their craft.
But make no down, Algore (or Algore Junior to be precise) sells a doomsday tale of woe, sin, and a shimmer’s hope of redemption. IF you follow HIS way (except without the big house, the giant carbon footprint, the unhealthy diet, the sexual groping, the...).
There are Christians who are “seasoned” Christian and are disciples of Christ — and even pastors and professors in seminary — who are simply and PLAINLY WRONG.
It doesn’t even have to do with how well studied they are, or how much they are a disciple of Christ — they are STILL WRONG!
I’m afraid it doesn’t quite work the way you’re saying ... unfortunately. So even being diligent and a disciple of Christ, they can be wrong.
That’s why my favorite saying is that accepting Christ as your personal savior doesn’t make you right, but simply saved ... :-) ...
Camping also offered a measured apology, adding that he felt so terrible when his prophecy did not come true that he left home and took refuge in a motel with his wife.
Dear Everybody,
Sorry you didnt die.
Sincerely,
Harold
