Please pay attention, gun owners.
Especially if the bad guy is a member of a protected racial group.
Give only the legally required information to 911 and the investigators.
You tell 911: “A man has been shot in my home.”
You do NOT say: “I just shot a man in my home.”
To the Police, you provide your ID, your contact information, and, usually, your employer and work number.
After that, every answer should be the same: “I would like to speak to an attorney before answering that question.”
Every request by the Police to search or seize evidence should have the same response: “I’d like you to obtain a warrant first.”
Finally, you say nothing to friends or family about what happened.
If you stay calm, alert, and exercise a high level of self-discipline, your chance of being the next George Zimmerman go down almost to zero.

Excellent advice. The cops are not there to help you, they want to try and arrest you. Their motto: “to protect and to serve,” is the biggest bull$hit line in the country today. The only thing they want to protect is their own asses, and the only one’s they serve are the politicians who up their pay and benefits! Do not trust any LEO!
