“Truly a “country club” Republican.”

At least he came up the hard way. Large family without wealth, family business success with hard work.

Hey isn’t that the American Way? AND he remembers his roots and hard way up the ladder, even gets sentimental about it.

Can do better for Speaker? Could do a LOT WORSE. And Pelosi WAS.

Certainly much better that Pelosi.

And much worse than what we really need.

"“I’ve never liked Boehner”..."

"He’s a Godsend compared to Pelosi as Speaker."I'm in complete agreement with your reply here. He is certainly not everyone's dream of the perfect speaker, but it bears considering exactly what can realistically be accomplished with Harry Reid leading the Senate, and Obama/Biden (not Romney/Ryan) ruling from the White House, assisted by their cabinet and agency appointees who love rule-making more than anything.

I just can't wait to see what happens next time there's an issue before the DC Court of Appeals, now that we have the new judges there that they didn't want or need, thanks to Harry's "nuclear option".

We had better put differences aside, keep the House, and take back the Senate next Fall, or we will be in even more of a world of hurt, IMHO.

My dad and his siblings (along with brothers-in-law) went through as bad or worse - even putting aside military service - and while they weren't always paragons of virtue, they would all have stopped short of voting to steal other peoples' money or negotiate away their rights. They may all have been flyover-country failures by DC standards, but at least they weren't mendacious beltway elitists (born or made).

Based on his increasingly problematic behavior, I maintain that John Boehner long ago decided that being a member in good standing of the GOP wing of the Corrupt Bastards' Club was his ticket to never going back to the wrong side of the tracks; and rather than growing in character, he has simply increased his standing with those who can keep him living in the style which with he has become accustomed.

Is he the worst guy in the world? Nah. He has become, however, too much of an enabler of the worst this country does have to offer.
