BERLIN (Reuters) - Angela Merkel is expected to name Ursula von der Leyen as her new defense minister when she presents her cabinet list on Sunday, a surprise choice that could vault the ambitious ally into the lead as the front runner to succeed the chancellor.

The good news is that eventually they will run out of all the “first time thing and that”. In another generation those words won’t even be in the conversation. I mean even conservatives are into labels. John McCain (who is not conservative had his folks pick Palin because they thought a woman would get him more votes).
