the earth as a small stone moving through a stream of fiery particles from the sun, kept from burning up only by a magnetic field that allowed the formation of a thin film of air and water on its surface.

I've seen a presentation similar to that on TV. It is frightening when you think of the incredible amount of energy that is deflected away from us by our atmosphere. It's not hard to imagine that there are noteworthy variations in the climate caused by that energy flow, entirely out of our hands.

On another, more positive note - think if we could figure out (and I believe we will) how to capture even a fraction of the energy that passes us by in space. It would be limitless, and liberals couldn't scream about it being a pollutant.

I do believe we will figure out a way to capture that energy, but of course we'll never get liberals to stop screaming that we live too well.

Worse yet, temperatures used by warming advocates collected from land-based thermometers are continually “adjusted.”

Ah.

The old "When in doubt, pause and make up a few facts" syndrome.

Missed it by that much.

it doesn’t help that so many people have a magical view of science. Accordingly, they think of all scientists as wizards. If they paied attention to myths, they would know there are good wizards and bad wizards, the latter as greedy for power as the most ruthless politician or business magnate.

Consider how much more government, how many layers of government we now have then before. So much money is used to pay paper pushers that less and less is spent on equipment and useful hands.

Spot on observation. We literally know nothing about atmospheric science. It will take hundreds of years of observations to even begin to understand.

a large portion of the left has gone silent about global warming

Not the EPA. They are Full Steam ahead. "Reality" has nothing to do with what they do.

Agree wholeheartedly. And which is why some day, some how the EPA must be abolished, along with numerous other govt. depts., agencies, & administrations that are strangling this nation.

Predictions aren’t useless. We’re entering a period of cold from disappearing sunspots ...
Maunder Minimum http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maunder_Minimum

It's useless for me. When it's cold outside, I wear more clothes or stay indoors. When it's warm outside I dress appropriately. So, for me disappearing sunspots are moot.

How it affects farming might be useful so farmers can make useful decisions, but other than that, how is it useful? (Rhetorical.)

Thank you.
