Thomas Conrad, who had an economics class with the gunman, described him as a very opinionated Socialist.

“He was exuberant I guess,” Conrad said. “A lot of people picked on him, but it didn’t seem bother him.”

Additionally, the teacher he was after is the debate coach who had just kicked him off the team. Ironically, the shooter was in favor of gun control. I guess for the peons and not himself.
