I agree! So, if the average prison term meted out to other spies runs from four to seven years, and the average time served in prison is two to four years, why is Pollard still in prison? The point is NOT what is a fair sentencing for someone found out to be spying, but being consistent when sentencing different individuals.

The punishment must fit the crime.

John Walker and his family gave the Soviets priceless undersea-warfare secrets and intelligence. He deserved to be shot. I'm still disappointed that he wasn't, and appeased only by the idea that he will spend the left of his life lifting weights in Portsmouth Naval Prison under the pitiless gaze of young Marines who know what he did.

Pollard compromised national means, the without-which-not of "trust but verify" and arms reduction. Blind us, and some other country could murder us in our beds. That's what Pollard did, on behalf of a Knesset that would do anything (with American intelligence) to get exit visas for a few more Soviet Jews. They let the Sovs blackmail them into betraying us. What does that say? Pollard's backstabbing was stacked up many fold by multiple supposedly-friendly players. No, Pollard needs to stay where he is. Maybe he can play chess with the Walkers and take their candy bars away.
